Liturgical Art Fellowship
In addition to offering artistic services to churches, The Center for Liturgical Art (CLA) also seeks to help artistic minded individuals grow in their capacity to serve the church by means of our fellowship program. The purpose of the CLA Fellowship program is to give young artists the tools and experience needed to equip them to succeed as a liturgical artist. Through an onsite development program fellows will work alongside CLA staff to complete a commission of their choosing, learning valuable skills unavailable through most undergraduate art programs.
Over the course of the fellowship, the fellow will coordinate a commissioned project with a sponsor (commissioning body) of their choice. They will devote four hours daily towards completing this project and will receive help and guidance from CLA staff. An additional four hours per day will be spent working alongside the CLA team on additional commissions currently underway.
The Fellow will be responsible for his/her own meals and other living expenses not associated with campus housing but will receive compensation for their time. The cost for on-campus meals through the Janzow Dining Hall will be available at the reduced Concordia University, Nebraska faculty rate as available.
Through this experience the Fellow will:
-
Successfully complete their first major commission;
-
Receive full time pay and housing for the duration of the project;
-
Be allowed studio space for personal development;
-
Build lasting network connections; and
-
Gain valuable experience while utilizing and honing skills learned in their undergraduate studies and by developing new skills learned from artists at The CLA.
